Production Services Ireland (PSI) – a lighting, rigging and visual production company based in Dublin and Belfast - has made a full commitment to the use of double-braked hoists by making a substantial investment in more than 50 EXE-Rise 1000kg 8:1 double-braked chain hoists for use on the current U.K. and European tour of Riverdance. These new EXE-Rise hoists are fresh off the production line in Italy and were delivered to PSI by Adam Beaumont from Area Four Industries.
The history of Riverdance goes back to 1994, when it was an intermission act for the Eurovision Song Contest. It was an immediate hit and quickly gained worldwide recognition. Since that time, it has continuously played to sold out venues and is one of the most successful dance shows in the world.
PSI is now on a 4th tour with Riverdance as its production company and is set to deliver even higher levels of safety thanks to its new fleet of EXE-Rise motors. EXE-Rise hoists feature two independent braking systems on the motor shaft powered by their own cables. This arrangement allows for the improved placement of the clutch system outside the load path. The EXE-Rise is one of the safest and quietest hoists on the market thanks to its 5-pocket load wheel, helical gears with oil lubrication and a “Made in Germany” chain with round guide. EXE-Rise hoists are in full compliance with the strictest DIN regulations and comply with BGV-D8 and igvw SQ P2 codes of practice. The combination of these factors positions the EXE-Rise as an eventual requirement in the general entertainment industry.
With the addition of EXE-Rise double-braked chain hoists to its arsenal of high-quality production equipment, PSI will continue to deliver the professional service and extreme focus on safety that Riverdance has come to rely on.
